Chaotic Sitting

Chaotic Sitting

Work from Home = World from Chairs

Work from Home = World from Chairs

An extended concept of her previous “berjalan, bertamu.” project, I intend to bring the focus again to chair and solitude, while also taking the pandemic and lockdown as the background of this project.

In this time of pandemic, people stopped going to work. Everything was on a lockdown, and we’re forced to make-do with whatever gadgets we have in our homes. That idea of making-do extends to the function of chairs, as working at home means a lot of sitting involved.

With that perspective, chairs, then can be considered as a part of a gateway from their home into the outside. Just as you are sitting inside your home, you are a part of the outside by reacting to the world.

In this project, I try to do a little collection of people and their chairs, how their posture varies between people, what is a “comfortable” chair for them. How involved their chairs are in their daily routine of work, being home, and as a gateway to the reality outside.
